Finally......... A Card Simply Stamped

Our carpets have been laid, my craft room has been rearranged yet again (the wireless connection kept disconnecting itself) & I'm getting back into the groove of working with my stamps & inks. I had a bit of shock with Messrs Blogger & Google (Blooger & Goggle perhaps) - one moment I am following 69 blogs, & then it varies between 11 & 20! I've tried the new interface, switching back to the old one, unsubscribing/unfollowing & resubscribing/refollowing & as soon as I've got it all sorted - it changes!!! I really do not understand so I have resorted to keeping up with blogs/following via a mixture of RSS Feeds & the Top Sites on my Mac.

Although I still have some colouring homework to finish & experiments/testing I want to do I've been missing entering the Penny Black Weekly Reader Challenge. So, feeling rather out of practice (my last entry was in April) here goes.......

To mark the introduction of a regular feature (plus the new Designer Kelley Eubanks) on the Penny Black Blog this week's challenge is to create a simply stamped card based on the sketch provided.

I have tried stamping a one layer card - not for me as that little scamp of a Perfectionist Imp perches on my shoulder muttering into my ear & I become more anxious & tenser as the days go by with nothing to show but inky fingers & a bin full of rubbish. Seeing the inspirational samples by the Penny Black Design Team made me realize that I could actually have some layering & dimension incorporating some favourite  details (distressed edges & paper piercing) & my card would still  qualify as Clean And Simple.

Recipe
Stamps Penny Black 30-068 trims (image & background) &30-067 to you (sentiment).
Inks VersaMark watermark stamp pad with Stampendous Detail white Embossing Powder (stamping on card front) VersaFine Vintage Sepia (stamping inside card), Vintage Photo Distress Ink (distressing some cardstock edges).
Colouring Ice Stickles Glitter Glue (Crystal Ice).
Cardstock Craft UK Limited (card blank), an assortment of browns & whites in various textures from stash.
Punches EK Success (corner rounder), Woodware (circles & scalloped circles).

Challenges Entered
Penny Black Weekly Reader Challenge - Simple Stamping
Rainbow Lady's Challenge 180 - Cards for Men (the colours & CAS design make this suitable for a man)

Lovely to see you back in craft land! I wondered where you had disappeared to! I too have Blogger telling me I am not following anyone but it sometimes sorts itself out if I refresh the page, but not always! Great card by the way!

Oh, lovely to see a card from you Paula and it's beautiful! Believe it or not I've never done any paper piercing but it's really effective. I love that unusual PB image too. Lovely altogether.

I'm glad it's not just me that Blogger is playing up for again. I think I'm okay with the blogs I'm following but my own followers keep going up and down like a yoyo. I'm currently 2 down on last week and I still hate the way photos come up now when you click on them. I don't mind the black background or the gallery format but I used to be able to click and click again on photos to get a real 'in your face' zoom so I could see all the little details. I've actually been on a couple tonight where the gallery pic has been smaller than the blog post pic. Extremely disappointing and no explanation as to why they do these things.

Hugs
Lesley Xx

Good to see you are back into making cards in your lovely organised craft room and that the decorating upheaval is over. This is an elegant card and I like the colours you've chosen. I struggle with one layer cards too so you aren't alone in this.

I love the touch of sparkle Paula, and the pricking you added to the scallop circles (must try to remember to try this) - altogether a fabulous card. Great to see you organised and back to crafting - I am still in the midst of the builders here!

Paula (PEP) I love how you tied in all the circular feautures and used them to create terrific movement around the card. The inside is fabulously designed too!

Hi Paula - great to see you back in Blogland!! And with such a lovely card too - a simple and elegant design, which as there's no sentiment could be used for any number of occasions. I do like the stamp.

As for Blogger - I know what you mean - tends to vary from day to day, but mostly it's okay.

Take care, Deborah xx

Hi Paula, I'm really pleased to read that your carpets are laid and that you are now back to crafting. I love your card, the layers are just great and I really like that snowflake image. The paper piercing is the perfect finishing touch. Are you going to enter it into Glenda's White Christmas Challenge?

What a fabulous card. I love the little touch of Glitter. Your attention to detail is outstanding and the paper piercing looks super with the scalloped circle and main image. Rounding off one corner of the background brings the whole thing together perfectly.
Welcome back, we have missed you.

welcome back, friend!! i know what you mean about those following problems...sometimes it looks as if i am following no one...so frustrating!

i think you card is lovely...loving that snowflake look...the embossing looks almost like stitching...so pretty! and the chocolate and white combo is beautiful for the holidays!!

so glad to hear your excitement is building a little for Christmas. i still need to decorate...i haven't been in decorating mode yet this year, which is weird for me...but i'm still happy to hear the christmas music around the stores and on the radio...i think that always makes me feel cozy and ready for the holidays:)...

the other day i was thinking about Christ being the center of our Christmas-- and how easy it is to lose focus of that. it is nice to know that there are still places we find Him...even a scripture reference on a stamp!! it's such a blessed time of year...to know God loves us THAT much...to send His Son!

hugs to you my friend...Happy Holidays...and thanks for your sweet and kind encouragement each day.

Wooo! So great to see you back my friend! :)

And you are back with a brilliant card. I love the elegant and stylish simplicity of this, and fabulous colours. I know what you mean about stamping straight onto a card. I cant be doing with it, so I dont!! lol :)

Glad you have finally, eventually emerged from all the dust and chaos and found time to create too. We have missed ya! ;)

Thanks also for all your lovely comments on my blog, I kept checking back often waiting for your return.

Have a smashing day!

hugs
