January Quintiles

Firstly, thank you to everyone who left me get well wishes - I'm finally getting back on my feet again.

The Chocolate Baroque Online Community now has quite a number of groups, each dedicated to different aspects of crafting (from ATCs to Zentangle) using Chocolate Baroque products or items available through the Chocolate Baroque online shop. Some of the groups are swap groups, others focus upon encouraging one another with ideas through uploading photos of completed projects. This year we have a Christmas Group in the latter category: a theme is set  each month spurring us on to making one or more Christmas cards per month in order to avoid the mad scramble in December.

We have a new format of "Quintiles" for a monthly swap where we submit two 5 inch square pieces of artwork created along a given theme. The two Quintiles can be exactly the same, varied slightly (different colours, embellishments etc........) or completely different. I thought I'd like to explore how different colour combination can alter the appearance of the same basic design each month, so that's what I'm starting out with. The January theme is Winter Wonderland.

fronts & backs

close-ups of wet embossed vellum pattern fragments
embellished with brads & gems

 close-ups showing dimensional shaping &
interwoven layering of flowers

close-ups showing corner details & sequin embellishments

The flowers were stamped 6 times for each tile, coloured using Copic Markers & cut out. The petals were shaped around a pencil prior to layering the flowers in pairs whilst interleaving & offsetting the petals. Each flower centre was made from a punched floral shape topped with a piece of card candi.

Glad to see you back Paula :)

Loving the contrast between these two projects. Fabulous filigree effect with the embossing and such a gorgeous design. These look really lavish, but also very classy :)

So glad you are getting back to normal Paula. These are really lovely, beautiful precise work as always. The embossed fragment works perfectly on the vellum and the flowers are really lovely in both colour options. Hope you are warm and cosy in the snow. Elaine x

I'm so pleased to hear you're on the mend at last Paula, but do take care and don't rush at things.

Your Quintiles look very rich yet elegant at the same time, the silver and gold embossing really does catch the light and the decoupaged flowers lift both pieces.

A very imaginative interpretation of the theme this month and the difference with using alternative colour schemes is a good idea too. Glad you are feeling somewhat better.

Hi Paula, glad to read that you are feeling better. Your Quintiles are so beautiful ! I love the embossing, layering and the combination of the holly fragment and the flower. I don't have the Christmas Steampunk set(yet), it's on my 'wishlist'. So many gorgeous CB stamps ! Hope your day is going well, Shirleyx

So pleased to hear you're on the mend - the bugs going around this year seem to be very bad. I really like the Quintiles - the variation in colour makes them feel totally different. Great work.

Paula, I'm so sorry I missed that you'd been so poorly. It was probably because I went down with a vicious stomach bug around the same time. I haven't had a stomach bug in years and could definitely have done without that one but luckily mine didn't last long. I'm very glad to hear you were on the mend a week ago and hope that has continued.

As for your quintiles, well, they are stunning! I would never have thought of using the fragment stamp in such a way on the vellum and the result is gorgeous. I've always loved that particular CB flower but your way of interweaving the petals is genius. Your Copic colouring is lovely too. I must find time to practice with mine.

Two people are going to be very lucky to receive one of these beauties.

Hugs
