Honour & History in Heraldry Alphatag

My "H" Alphatag for the Baroque Guild swap incorporates the idea of honour in the form of a knight being both an honourable person & being honoured by a monument after death, for example in the form  of a stone, marble or brass effigy. Although I've not been able to identify the particular knight in my stamped image he is most likely a monumental effigy, probably brass, in some cathedral or church, though I have coloured him to represent stonework (rather fittingly sponging with Pumice Stone Distress Ink).

Simon Says - use your FAVOURITE tool!
I have quite a few favourite tools but in the end I decided to pick the tools I use for shaping cardstock & neatening cut edges. Bev Rochester was the first person I came across using a ball tool for shaping flowers & neatening any roughly cut edges of cardstock. More recently I discovered Debby who rarely makes a card without shaping layers. Over time I have gathered a little bundle of tools (pictured) which are in constant use. Initially I used candle wax to "lubricate" the ball tool but being greasy it makes any edges a little difficult to ink.

Fabulous Paula!!
I love the knight stamp, not something I've ever seen before.
It reminds me of a holiday to London when I was a child and I did brass rubbings in a church, which I remember being great fun.

Thank you for the tip, with regard to the blue smiley faces!
I had tried scrubbing, all to no avail, but nail varnish remover (acetone) helped to remove most of the offending marks.

Happy Easter Paula

Love Elaine xxx

i love how you incorporated the chain mail with the little gold fabric. That is perfect...very lovely tag-- i like how it has lots of details to inspect, but still simple and beautiful!

Have a lovely holiday, friend. xx

I really love how you give so much consideration to the basis of your tag and give them such meaning and purpose.

This one is of course superb right down to the chain mesh.

Have a good Easter weekend.

Very neat take on the H tag Paula, your work is always detailed and beautifully crafted . This is a super tag. Have finished the front of mine but not the back. Must get on with the reverse of 'i' as well.

Hi Paula :)

Love the style of this tag! Thats a super image and all your matching details work great, the fleur de-lys and the gold embossing are perfect embellishments.

I was just in the mood for seeing this. We spent the day today at Kilchurn Castle:

http://www.historic-scotland.gov.uk/propertyresults/propertydetail.htm?PropID=PL_167&PropName=Kilchurn%20Castle

and it was fabulous. Now we have lived down the road from this place for the best part of 12 years, and never been! (tut) but it was sooooo worth it. Very atmospheric with storm clouds, wind and rain today, and Dave took some cracking photographs.

Hope you had a smashing Easter Sunday :)

Paula I am admiring how you mixed all these textures. Terrific combination of cool stone images with warm metal tones. Your tags have so many layers of thought!

Ever since I became a fan of CB (back in the days of Elusive Images) I've always wanted that stamp set but it never quite made it to the top of my wish list. Am I regretting that now seeing your wonderful tag Paula.

Love the Pumice Stone colouring and the mesh for chain mail is inspired. The splash of colour on the shield lifts the whole tag too. You put such a lot of thought into your Alphatags and they are all brilliant.

I have to echo the comments of others Paula, you put such a lot of thought and details into your work. This theme is inspired and I am the lucky person ro receive this brilliant tag. I am so happy to get one of your creations. Hopefully looking forward to meeting up in a couple of weeks too. Elaine x
